When thinking about therapy it can be hard to know where to start or what to expect. I have found that the most effective way to begin is to meet face to face for an initial consultation.
This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy, what you would like to achieve, and how we might work together. Research suggests that the single most important contributor to successful therapy is the client-therapist relationship. Our initial meeting gives you a chance to see if I am someone you feel comfortable sharing your feelings with, and gives me an opportunity to check that I will be able to help with your problems.
There is no obligation to continue after the initial meeting but, if we both feel that therapy will be beneficial, we will proceed to agree our contract including regular meeting times and the fee. You may take as long as you need to decide whether you wish to work further with me. If I feel you would benefit more from working with someone else, I will let you know by the end of the initial consultation and recommend a colleague or agency if possible.
If you would like to meet, feel free to get in touch.
Sessions
Sessions are 50 minutes long, usually once a week, sometimes twice a week. You reserve a regular session day and time and it remains yours for as long as we work together.
Cancellations, missed sessions
I have a minimum notice period of 14 days. Missed or cancelled sessions outside of that will be charged at the full session fee, though I will offer you an alternative appointment during that same week if possible.
